Tucker is 6 years old in the photo (11/5/22).

I originally bought 4 skeins but ran out of yarn before I could finish the hood and had to buy a 5th skein.

I worked the selvage stitches in stockinette and worked the increases and decreases one stitch in from the edge so it would be easier to maintain the Irish moss stitch pattern while shaping.

I picked up 82 sts for the button bands (about 5 sts for every 6 rows) instead of 78 sts. I knit 7 button band rows instead of 5 to accommodate the large toggles and worked the buttonholes on row 4.

I made six buttonholes instead of seven: rib 3, YO, k2tog, rib 13, YO, k2tog…rib 2.

I knit 7 rows of rib for the hood border so it would match the button bands. I picked up 100 sts for the hood border instead of 104 sts: 39 sts each side, 22 sts across top.

I had issues with the button band at the bottom edge of the fronts so I used this slip stitch crochet technique to fix it and it worked really well.

I used six 1 1/4” toggles from Amazon.
