My old coworker Rosa asked for a pink hat like four years ago. I finally remembered to make one for her. She asked for one like the Button-Tab Hat I made for myself and our other coworker Melissa. I figured since I made Rosa wait so long for her hat, I would spice things up a little with an interesting stitch pattern.

I knew the hat would be too short so I worked 7 crown decrease rounds (per the 19.75” size) instead of 6 decrease rounds (per the 18” size). I also worked an extra knit row before the final decrease round. That left me with 42 stitches so I k2tog around, per the 17.25” instructions. I worked a total of 15 decrease rounds instead of 12.

I used a 1 1/8” button I had in my stash from lotsofbuttons.com.

This yarn looked like it was falling apart while in the skein and I was a little nervous about using it. But I didn’t have any problems with splitting while knitting.
