Notes

My SIL, Nazia, loved our niece Hailey’s baby doll so much at Christmas that she made me promise to make her one “that looks just like me” for her birthday this year. So here she is, a baby for Naz :0)

4/16 Just received a thank you message from my SIL and she has informed me that the doll has been named Zoe. So, Zoe it is :0)
4/9 Doll is finished but it feels like she’s missing something. It may be the color of the clothing which was my SIL’s preference as black and grey are her favorite colors. Going to be making a bouquet of red flowers for the doll today, perhaps that will help some… Yes, that was it - love her with the flowers!
3/31 Just found out that my sweet SIL is expecting a real baby come Oct.!!! So exciting! :0)

Shoe and coat patterns altered quite a bit to fit the doll. Doll knit on US 4, coat on US 5, shoes on US 1. The black Cotton Ease was used to make a simple black underdress.

Flower blossoms made from this pattern, but with only 5 petals per layer. After making the flowers I took the cast-on tail and pulled it snugly through a flexible straw (straw trimmed to about 4 or 5 inches) and taped the end to the outside with scotch tape and then covered the ‘stem’ with floral tape (keeping some bend in the straw while wrapping). A dot of hot glue between the straw and flower head kept the flowers in place. The bend in the straws helped to gather the flowers together in a bouquet.

Normally I would have preferred to keep the project all knit and would have made i-cord stems for the flowers with wire inside, but I was, unfortunately, out of time.
