Cute little project, quick and pretty simple, I will definitely be making more of these. SIL really liked the original color on the pattern photo, so I tried to get as close as I could without being able to find the identical yarn.

I LOVE this yarn, but I do wish it came in sport weight also. This DK did the job, but it is just a touch heavy for this project. I do like the combination of the yarn and the smaller needle though. I think the size is just right for about 3 or 4 months (3.5” unstretched - I really think these shoes need a bit of negative ease to stay put…) which is exactly what I wanted and the fabric is nice and firm with just enough stretch to fit well without being floppy. I tried it with the 3.0 mm first and was not happy with the result.

I reversed the flounce so that the holes would be on the underside (I really didn’t like the look of them at the top of the ruffle) by starting row 1 on the wrong side.

Also, the sole seemed too small so I switched to the sole from the Winter Baby Boots which was just the perfect size for picking up the 57 stitches.

Knit in the round by purling all odd rounds between rows 1 and 12 of the upper. Added an additional purl round between rows 12 & 13 in order to be on a knit row for decreases. Purled all even rounds between rows 13 & 20 of the upper. Continued to switch between knitting and purling at center back during ankle/button band construction (knitting flat) to maintain garter stitch fabric.
