Notes

27July2012: I’m starting these notes after a big test knit with Boknits! Pattern will be published soon.

I was immediately attracted to this dress because I could make it fit me in a way that I would never ever ever find in a store. The arms are unbelievably long, the negative ease is high, and the warmth is Montreal-appropriate! It was hard to model this in July, lol, it is insanely warm and soft; but come winter I’m not sure I’ll ever take it off.

It is my first contiguous shoulder method knit, and I like the fit. I’ll be trying some more of this style pattern in the future.

This dress is really fun because of the welts. You can add them in wherever you want, and they actually adjust the fit a bit. For instance, when I thought the negative ease was a bit high in the hips, I took out a welt to give me more space. Then, when I wanted to bring it in for the thighs, I added a bunch of welts in the the bottom of the skirt.

Note: avoid adding welts along the inner arm, you will feel them when bending your arm, not ideal.

If you like playing with asymmetry and making your own one-of-a-kind slinky warm dress, this is THE pattern for you!
