A test knit for Hanna Maciejewska (a.k.a. hada131)!
28Nov2012:
TIPS:
- You can easily avoid the endless purling of reverse stockinette and make this pullover by knitting the wrong side in the round. First, a) reverse the knits for purls and vice versa and b) reverse the directions of the cables. For the body, you can read the charts left to right instead of right to left. For the sleeve, just reverse the left sleeve for the right, and you can read the charts normally!
- Make asymmetrical decreases on the front neck (always after the same number of stitches) to give it a more natural cowl look.
10Nov2012: Madelinetosh dk notes: US 6 5.5 st/in makes a really dense fabric. This yarn wants to be worsted. US 7 is 5 st/in and feels great.
So, with that in mind, I knit most of the body (stiffly) on US 6 to match gauge and realized I really didn’t have enough yarn for this nonsense. So, I went to a US 7 for the sleeves, and picked up the XXSmall number of stitches, which ended up being about every 2 rows of pick-ups. I decreased as specified, but then kept decreasing so the sleeves were nice and slim.
Then, I returned to the body and decreased it evenly around to make up for the US 7 gauge and started knitting with US 7. I continued decreasing the body more than specified, but still at the same rate. You can see the change in gauge, but hey.
Of course, I hate alternating skeins, and for punishment, the one very weird one (with green in it??) is right in the top front. Argh!
Thank you helpmeknit! and JeffInAmbler for leftovers!! =D
