29Mar2013: Steek prep: Because this sweater doesn’t have color changes marking most of the steek, I strongly recommend a running stitch of colorful yarn through where you will cut. This made it much easier to crochet reinforce the steek using Kate Davies’s essential recommendation of single crocheting up, then down the steek (so the crochet opens in the right direction on both sides).

24Jan2013: I’m concerned about the hip width in relation to the ribbing. It’s making a big balloon effect, so I think I will have to rip out quite a bit. That’s the problem with steeking and no seams, you can’t make any alterations/tailoring after! I really really like seams.

Sleeves: Pick up 12 on underarm; dec at each edge of underarm sts next row; dec 2 @ marker on 7th; 7th; 8th; 8th; 10th; 10th; 12th; 12th; 12th; 15th; 15th; 17th; 17th; 17th; next row k2/p2 same size needle but dec 2 on opposite seam side.

15Nov2012: The feathers are brilliantly designed! The embroidery is fun -- I suggest that you start it on the feathers of the back first, so that you are an expert in the technique by the time you get to the front.

I’ve decided that my fair-isle technique is extremely tight, and I can change needle sizes all I like and I will always get the same gauge. =p I knitted an entire yoke to the armholes to find it was made for a child, and had to go up intensely in needle size so I could try to add some room.

I will be decorating the ends of the sleeves with feathers, as well.

Mod: Reversed the white spine of the front feathers only, so as to have a mirror image design.
