Blogged with much more detail here!
January 29, 2014: A great knit from start to finish.
There is a tiny error on the top of the second page: you do NOT need to “change to size 4mm/US6 needles because you are already using them!
I modified the collars and hem to be solid, as the colors were to reminiscent of athletic colors and the stripes reminded me of a tennis sweater.
There were too many stitches to pick up on the ribbed hem, it was totally floppy. I was lazy, so instead of picking up less, I decreased 24 sts evenly around (using sK2psso to keep the 1x1 rib) after 6 rows.
In the end, I didn’t like the pointy sleeves, so I wove an elastic thread around the edges and gathered in the sleeves. Very pleased with the result.
I am really loving this pattern! The stripes are fun, and there is a neat short-row section to make waist shaping, very clever. I love Lisa Richardson’s designs.
Side to side knitting means that YOUR STITCH GAUGE IS FOR LENGTH NOT WIDTH. Focus on your row gauge so that you have the right size. My stitch gauge was a little bigger, which I like, as this will lengthen the tee.
I’m using some Dollarama “Cotton Blend” yarn… I don’t know the content but it feels like mostly cotton. It’s heavy and not that easy to knit with. I generally have trouble knitting with cotton, I find I push it too hard on the needle (because it doesn’t move well) and hurt my hands with that repetitive movement.
I estimate a total cost of $7 for this tee!
