These are the prettiest mittens I have ever made.

The pattern is very do-it-yourself. Best for someone who has followed colour charts before. Though, not totally out of reach of a colour work beginner.

I knit these mittens in the round using dpns. For the thumb, I increased one stitch (make one) on either side as the colour pattern for the thumb increased. That’s kind of hard to explain. When you finish the cuff you’ll have 62 stitches, I put 33 stitches for the front of the mittens on two needles (16 st., 17 st.). Then for the back two needles I had divided the 23 st. for the back+6st for either side=29st. When the thumb stitches are ready to be put on hold, there should be 13 st. On the next row, cast on 13 to replace them, so both the front and back should have 33 stitches total, plus 6 stitches for each side.

Modifications:
Followed the stitch pattern for the cuff but did 32 rows in white, 4 purple, 2 white, 2 purple, 2 white, 4 purple, 32 white. I wanted an extra long cuff to high under my jacket sleeves.
