Test knit for Diana :)
I had a little problem initially with the lace whilst swatching (yes, I actually swatched!).
Diana was very helpful and it’s all sorted.
Thank you :)
Just in case anyone else is doing what I was - on row 2 of the lace pattern, move the yarn to the front before slipping the stitch&yo. :)
21st Jan: The lace pattern is nice and easy once you’ve done it a couple of times, so you hardly need to refer back to the pattern.
The only reason it’s taken me a bit longer is because unfortunately I had a wisdom tooth removed last week. So that delayed me a bit (to say the least!).
:(
23rd Jan: Decided to block before I do the neck and arm edgings to see how long everything is (I seem to have way too much yarn left over at the moment).
25th Jan: Neck edge and seaming done. For the neck edge I picked up 6 stitches each side between the two sets of stitches.
I picked up the sleeve edge stitches after seaming and did them in the round. At first I picked up 2st for every 3, but this made it too gathered for me. So I did 4st for every 5 and that’s just perfect.
My garter stitch edging isn’t as wide as in the pattern at the bottom (I did 3 ridges plus bind off ridge for the bottom & neck, and 2 ridges plus bo ridge for arms).
Also did stretchy bind off around the bottom only.
It didn’t take as much yarn as I thought (That’s assuming the yardage is accurate on the Jitterbug?). I used 624yds when worked out by weight, but I’ve just seen it says on the Jitterbug description that yardages vary, so who knows how much I used?!
Finished measurements (after blocking and drying):
Chest 35 (not 36 as in pattern, but it is stretchy and could probably be blocked more).
Armhole depth - just over 6” (just realised this is definitely wrong. I’ve counted the pattern repeats though, and I think it’s right so I must not have blocked it enough. Fits me fine though).
Sleeve span w/o border 26.5”.
Top length 21”.
I really like this a lot, it’s turned out to be quite elegant.
Easy to follow pattern.
Love, love, love the yarn.
Thanks for the test :))
