Sigh! The niece who was a dietary vegan is now a full-bore vegan, so no animal fibers, including silk. She even gave away her beloved UGG boots.

It gets cold here in the winter, so a thick acrylic seems the way to go. Lots more choices for the warmer months, but not so much for winter.

Decided to try Vanna’s Choice, but will probably work my way around the craft store.

Really like the pattern--it is one of those that is very simple but looks more complicated than it is.

Went down a size on the needles, but the pattern is very stretchy, and I think this will end up being a nice warm beanie.
