after scrapping the Honeycomb vest for the MK vest requirement, I think I’m going to write up my own pattern. And use lighter colored yarn.
5/2/2011 - gauge swatching.
washed and blocked swatch. measured gauge. calculated cast on numbers.
casted on bottom back rib.
…hibernating…
9/8/12 - frogging what I have so far and designing my own instead. I’m not thrilled with the stockinette vest (I think my stockinette looks fine, I just don’t think I’d ever wear it) - I think I’d rather do a lace vest.
10/13/12 - actually, changed my mind again. I’m going to do mostly stockinette, but add in a cable on the back, and inset pockets in the front, and a buttonband in front. Why not demonstrate all the techniques I’m evaluated on in this level?
11/15/12 - starting to write pattern - scrapping the pockets and buttonband, and having two cables on the front. To fit my son William.
gauge on previously knit section: 21.5 sts/4 in.
12/3/12 - started knitting.
12/7 - almost to armholes on front (doing front first)
12/31 - done with front, starting back
1/5/13 - was almost to armholes of the back, and had to rip almost to the beginning because I forgot a cable cross. :-(
1/8 - my kitten, Gracie, got a hold of it and chewed my working yarn tonight!! At least she left me enough yarn to finish the row I was in the middle of. o.O
1/14 - blocking front and back, writing pattern.
1/16 - almost done with pattern. Knitting neckband.
…neckband looks awesome! Knitting armholes…
Notebook submitted on 1/22/13.
Vest passed on 3/20/13 - but some other things needed resubmitted.
December 2013 - making additions to pattern to include more sizes. Submitting to Cast On.
April 2015 - self published the pattern.
