Blocked measurements, relaxed: Width/wingspan approx. 159 cm (62.6 inches). Length approx. 49 cm (19.3 inches).
The finished shawl weighs 102 grams. Only approximately 2 grams of yarn left after bind off.
The skein contains 105 grams = approximately 460 meters (504 yards) of yarn so in order to get the most out of this gorgeous yarn and colourway I’m adding rows to the pattern before beginning the lace section. Lace pattern repeats are 11 stitches wide so body stitch count must be dividable by 11.
My final stitch count right before beginning the lace section is: 308 body stitches + 4 border stitches = 312 stitches in total.
Since I suck at following a written pattern, I decided to do an improvised version of the lace section and peeked into the “Shaelyn” shawl pattern where there is a similar lace section in a charted version (repeats are also 11 stitches wide). I think it worked out very well.
Did an ordinary bind off on needles size 8.0 mm.
Unblocked measurements: Width/wingspan approx. 154 cm (60.6 inches). Length approx. 50 cm (19.7 inches).
Will I knit this again…? Yes, I think so… I love the look of the garter ridges and I like how the pattern shows off and flatters this gorgeous yarn - however - since my knitting style is Russian (see my profile page if you want to know more about this knitting style) I probably have to tweek and customise the pattern a little bit more.
When I knit two purl rows right after each other in flat knitting the stitches on the second row have to be purled through the back loop which is the leading leg, and I don’t feel knitting the stitches flow as easy this way. I could probably avoid this by adding an additional knit row in between some of the garter ridges. So that’s probably what I’ll do the next time :-).
