Using Tern (light grey) as MC.
3/21: Completed Clue 1
4/1: Completed Clue 2. I cut my MC at the end of this clue.
4/5: Completed Clue 3
4/15: Completed Clue 4. I cut my MC at the end of this clue (but probably shouldn’t have)
4/19: Completed Clue 5
Notes + thoughts on the finished shawl:
- This MKAL was fun, albeit challenging. I probably wouldn’t have ever attempted this pattern if I knew at the outset how much ptbl it contained.
- I’m not sure if it’s actually a “wide, shallow triangle”? It seems more like a deep triangle, but that might just be how I blocked it.
- I liked using the lighter colour as the MC, but the lace detailing and texture sections seemed a bit lost until blocking, when they really opened up.
- I cut my MC yarn (grey) after Clue 2 and Clue 4. I probably should have carried the yarn up the side after Clue 4, but it was only two more ends to weave in so I didn’t bother.
- I tried two different ways of carrying the unused CC up the side. The first was to catch the yarn at the end of every RS row by twisting the MC/CC together. The second was to use both colours on the last PTBL of every right side row. I found the latter was easier to keep an even tension. However, the yarns blend in well enough that it wouldn’t matter either way.
