5/5/14 Finished the last of the letter squares, M and P.
5/1/14 Completed the Woven squares! 4 squares left to make!
4/29/14 Completed the practice/test square for the Woven square. Then made a modified square by shortening the starting chain from 31 to 29 and deleting one repeat in the first row and deleting the patterns second row completely and adding my own second row an doing 2sc in each ch1 space and sc ch2 sc in each ch2 place. with 5 colors and 10 pieces woven together and pinned together I then put 2dc into the second sc of each of the 2sc or the ch2 space , going through both parts of the woven material. with a ch 2 in the corners. 32sts each side.
4/22/14 Completed the Butterfly squares, and finished letter I today.
4/21/14 After making the Butterfly square as directed I immediately ripped most of it out because the square came out to big and way to many stitches on each side after some thoughtful consideration I realized that I would not be able to put three butterflies on each side so I decided to move the first one back one row so I completed the first two rows as the pattern directed, then did the third row the same as the second with corners the same and dc in each stitch, on the next 4 rows I completed much them same as the pattern said adding the appropriate 2 stitches on each side of the butterfly. I followed that with a row of dc in each stitch (2dc, ch2, 2dc) in the corner, and the last row with (sc, ch 2, sc) in the corner and a sc in each stitch so that it came out to 33 sts each side.
4/20/14 Finished letters E and G and Started first Butterfly square.
4/18/14 Finished the first letter square, S. followed pattern completely but with direction from the Wilbur squares and did 5 rows of sc before and after the original pattern with an additional 7 stitches on each end to the 17 the pattern already has. so 31 sc each stitches, usually sc, in a row and 31 total rows. with row 32 worked in the round with sc on the sides and hdc on the top and bottom with 2hdc and a sc in each corner (32sts each side
4/17/14 Completed the last of the Wilbur Squares.
4/10/14 Completed the last of the four Spider squares this morning and around midnight finished the first “Wilbur Square” 32sts each side
4/8/14 Finished first of the Spider squares today. I made some minor changes to the original pattern (notes to follow) and then I added 3 rows of my own to make it the 10in square I needed. First, rather than using a magic loop I used a ch6 to work the stitches in. Then, on row 2, I did not finish off the row, rather I, ch 5, slst into the 4th chain(making a loop) and completed the directions for the head in this loop, leaving a long tail for sewing. completed the rest of the square as directed. finishing attaching the head the the square by sewing it on with left over tail later. The last change that I made to the square is in row 6, on the 3rd and fourth side I did this: 5sc, long leg, skip st, 5sc, short leg, skip st, 5 sc, Long leg, skip st, corner, 5sc, long leg, skip st, 12sc, join. Then I made 3 of my own rows to make the square the size I need.
Row 1: air dc, (or ch3) in corner, ch 2, dc in same st, ** dc in the next st * ch3, dc2tg in the top of the last dc(sts are sideways), dc3tg using the next 3 dc * repeat* 5 times, ch3, dc2tg in top of last dc(sideways), dc in the next st (dc, ch2, dc) in the next dc(corner),** repeat** 3 times, omit last corner, join.
Row 2: slst to corner ch2, ch3, dc, ch2, 2dc,* dc in the next 2 dc, 3 dc in each dc3tg across, dc in the next 2 dc, (2dc, ch2, 2dc)corner * repeat * 3 times, omit last corner, join
Row 3: 2sc, ch 2, 2sc, sc in each sc across(28) repeat 3 times, join (32 sts in each side)
4/1/14 Finished the last of the 8 spider web squares, NO JOKE!
3/27/14 finished the first of the spider web squares. worked several rows on the row below the chain that the pattern said to work on. on all but the last row like this i worked with the chain on the right side of the work, on the last row I worked with the chain on the wrong side of the work. by doing the I mad it look a little more like the web I wanted it to look like. (33sts each side)
3/24/14 finished the first two of 4 Pumpkin pie squares. completed pattern as directed and added a couple rows to get 10” and (33sts on each side)
3/22/14 finished the last Treble square!
3/17/14 finished the last Tulip square this morning…and made first Treble square, only modification I had to make was using the same hook size as I’ve been using and I added a single chain to each corner on the last row (33st each side)
Completed first Treble square.
3/11/14 Made the “Tulip” square yesterday in practice colors up late in the night working on edging to make it the size and stitch count I needed , ripping and redoing a lot! gave up at 1am, got up this morning and got back to work on it, figured out what my problem with my design was and was able to put a edging on the square that added a little color, a little flair, and got me the final size and stitch count I needed :) (33st each side)
3/6/14 finished making the fourth Carousel Square
3/4/14 made my first Carousel Square, with my own modifications(originally a 6-7 in square), and made a new pattern for the modifications that I made by editing the information from original pattern. (33st each side)
3/3/14 made carousel square as pattern shows to see how big it is and figure out how I want to go about making my modifications.
1/6/14 Currently in Brainstorming phase at the moment… posted a picture with basic color and layout that I’m looking at at the moment.. Thinking about a “Charlotte’s Web” theme for this afghan….
