I just barely cracked into my second ball of yarn to knit the decreases of the second glove hood.

I followed the pattern as written by Ann Budd, except that I cast off the fingers after they were tall enough to cover the first knuckle. I also put a 5 stitch button hole in each thumb so I can poke my thumbs out if I need to open doors or there is a texting emergency.

To make the hood, I cast on half the number of stitches for the palm circumference and knit in 1x1 ribbing for .75 inches. Then I picked up stitches across the back of the hand and knit from my ribbing, across the stitches picked up from the hand back, then joined back in the round to my ribbing. I then knit in the round as a tube for 2.5 inches. At 2.5 inches I started doing 4 decreases every other round the way that you would for a sock toe. When I was down to 20 stitches, I did k1, k2tog around and around until I had 6 stitches left. Then I pulled the yarn through the remaining stitches and fastened off as you would for the top of a hat.

I started these for Ryan way back when we were together. He said he wanted some gloves missing the fingers. I cast on, but got side tracked and they never made it past the ribbing during our relationship. While looking for a project to work on while on the train I found these and decided it was time they were finished. They fit me perfectly.
