Notes

Made for my dad’s birthday (August 11) but it probably won’t get much wear until winter. The 2-ply handspun yarn I used doesn’t have the crisp stitch definition of commercial yarns, but I sort of like the “soft” look of these cables.

I made the “long” version of the pattern because I’d read several comments that the smaller version was too short. The long completely covers my ears which I think is perfect. If you only like your hats to cover part of your ears, the standard version will be fine.

The pattern looks very complicated, but it is charted well and if you can read a cable chart you will have no problem with the pattern. It is a very warm hat in the dense handspun wool. Perfect for the high-desert winter my dad has to live through.

I just hope he doesn’t throw it in the washing machine.
