Since it seems like half the knitting group from Lawrence has made these (and one particular person has made, um, five!) and they have all turned out beautifully, I thought I’d try my hand at one. So, I bit the bullet and paid for the pattern. The yarn is hand spun (not sure if it’s hand dyed or not) by a fellow raveler who sent it to me in a swap. I’m totally guessing on the yardage based on the fact that it’s 65-ish grams of lace-weight wool.

Finished! This will be a Christmas present for someone in Andrew’s family. I’m so happy that the colors didn’t pool or flash. The stockinette section stripes a bit but it’s obscured by the lace. All in all it was enjoyable and went pretty fast (when I actually worked on it.)

I ended up with about 10 grams left of my yarn which means I think I underestimated the yardage of the ball.
