I started these because I didn’t have anything simple to work on when I’m in the car or watching movies. I love the color of this yarn it’s so happy and bright and reminds me of campy theme park decor… I’d say it’s appropriately named.
I love knitting from the top down, for some reason they seem to go much faster than toe-ups. Once I get to the heel I get so excited that the foot doesn’t take long at all. (I think it helps that I have small feet.) I decided to do a short row heel on these instead of a heel flap because it’s supposed to keep the stripes all the same width… It’s an OK heel, as heels go, but I just really like the flap heel and think I’ll stick with it in the future, stripes be damned.
These are finished just in time to wear to sock summit!

Photo retakes 11 years later! I’ll be honest after a lot of wears, these were never the best fitting socks. The foot length was always a tiny bit on the short side and after a lot of wearing/washing they got even smaller.
Now, I can pull them on just to my heel, but as the day goes on, the heel will slowly get pulled under my foot and I have to readjust.
I think this short row heel was too shallow for my foot and I probably should have gone a few more rows on the foot length.
That being said, it is 11 years later so I’ve still gotten some major use out of them.
