This takes almost every yard of both color. I had about 5 yards of the tan left and 4 yards of the orange. The orange garter block was extremely boring to knit. At that point each row is about 500 stitches and there are 42 rows.

I love the way the short row stripes look. If you are not familiar with the Japanese Short-row method, make sure you look it up before you begin the stripes. You have to place markers as you do your turns and the pattern doesn’t tell you where to place the markers. There are some excellent videos on youtube--just search “Japanese Short Rows.”
