Especially designed for Manos del Uruguay Wool Clasica yarn, this simple knit is an instant gratification project, perfect to gift others our to present yourself. The simplicity of the lace stitch goes well with this beautiful variegated yarn. Onda is the Portuguese word for “wave” which I found appropriate due to the nature of the stitch employed.
I bought 3 skeins of Manos del Uruguay - 1 clasica (this one) and 2 Silk blend. All have gorgeous colors. But when I showed them to my sister, this particular skein did stand out and she couldn’t help but say “Oh, these are so my colors! There is pink, and gray and green…and lilac! So very beautiful!” Needless to say that I had to knit her something with it. Here it is - a fun and quick cowl (only 1 skein is required).
Special Notes
Gauge: 14 sts = 10 cm (4”) – unblocked in Lace st with 5.5 mm (US 9) needles.
Wet blocking is recommended to enhance lace st and adjust size a bit, accordingly to your style.
Usually, I recommend larger needles for binding-off. Not this time, (unless your BO is very tight) maintaining the same needle size allow you to keep the wavy effect, that should be encouraged by blocking as well.
This pattern has been tested and will run the clasica design contest.
