A fantastic and detailed pattern for a complicated knit requiring concentration! This is my second hat from this pattern and I made some mods to this one to have a narrower band which I much prefer:

• Pattern mods hidden from public view as it’s a paid pattern

• Used 3-needle bind-off to join the band

Pattern notes:

• CR: follow the directions, but for the last paragraph of instructions: Purl with BC through the back of the loop of the first knit stitch on the LHN but do not remove the stitch from the needle. K2tog with MC and remove the first two knit stitches from the LHN. K2tog with MC the next two knit stitches on the LHN, but do not remove the stitches from the LHN. Purl with BC the first stitch on the LHN, and remove the two knit stitches from the LHN.
• Picking up the sts for the top of the hat: pick up using the regular needle (not a crochet hook) from the inside, through the first purl st of each row only.
• Doing the 3-needle bind-off in BC only leaves the MC also attached in the right place to join it in for the top of the hat (saving on weaving in ends).

I would definitely knit this again with these modifications.
