Notes

This (the bottom picture) is my first completed Gratitude scarf for the 2013 scarf campaign. The finished size is 6.25” wide by 44” long. I made it by simply using a half double crochet stitch throughout after starting with a chain 15 since the yarn was bulky.

This was also my first time to use Willow Down yarn. It’s primarily Bamboo (89%) with Polyamide (11%), super soft and easy to work with. This is definitely a yarn that should feel great against someone’s skin and be easy to care for with gentle machine washing/drying.

The second scarf (second picture) was made with Willow Cub yarn, also in a half double crochet stitch. Easy to work with, but the color was much more flesh-toned than tan even though this picture looks like the gray one above it.

The third, fourth and fifth scarves (first picture is #3) also used Willow Yarn in Willow Wash, but I chose the crochet Rocking Stitch for this scarf. It was a little hard to get used to, but once I practiced the stitch combination several times it became easy and almost mindless crocheting. It’s worth mentioning that Wash has been my favorite Willow Yarn to work with so far. Scarves 3 & 4 were made using the Evergreen colorway, while 5 was made using Granite.

If you’re interested in making scarves (or other items) for our troops check out Operation Gratitude’s website here: http://www.operationgratitude.com/2010/08/scarf-hat-cool-... for more information about their requirements.

Scarves should be between 5-7” wide and 45-48” long, made without fringe and can be knitted or crocheted.
