Challenge #3 I tackled for my first Nerd Wars was the Discovery Challenge, Going Stratospheric. It was easy for me to pick my favorite atmospheric phenomena - rainbows! I decided to make Lexie a short necklace with branded strands of crochet (chain 125, turn, and slip stitch back) in rainbow colors. I used gray at both ends to represent the gray clouds that give us the rain for our rainbows. Most of the yarn was from my set of Lorna’s Laces miniballs, but I didn’t have a good yellow, so I used a bit of the Yarn Love Elizabeth Bennet. Since the necklace was for my daughter, for safety reasons I used a magnetic clasp.

Team tie in for this project is dead easy - Willow would totally wear this. Not only is she partial to short necklaces like this, it would match her sweater with the rainbow on it!
