Was going to make Caramel, but this opportunity popped up instead! I need more pullis anyway. I might need one more skein of the grey, but we’ll see. I’ve never done contiguous sleeves before, so this will be fun!

I had the name for this sweater before I started it. :) It’s an Okkervil River song that begins: “Who wrote those lines on the wall? Let’s retrace where they scrawled ancient characters.” Nothing deeper than that the lines part made me think of these stripes.

I have exact gauge in sts and rows!…in unwashed wool. :/ That’s okay, though, because I do want this to grow a little bit (it might not, I’ve never worked with the 220 Sport before) to be a baggy, relaxed sweater. This method is really neat. I wasn’t really sold looking at all the patterns the fad spurred because most sweaters really need the support that seams offer. This pattern is perfect for contiguous sleeves, though, because it’s supposed to be loose and a little shapeless (in a good way).

What I’m not sure about is my color choices….The purple is really purple and looks obnoxious next to the grey. What I needed was either a slightly darker grey (didn’t have one) or a slightly less obnoxious purple (we had darker, but it didn’t look right). It’s not like I’ve never seen anyone wear this combo before, though, so I think it will look okay, it’s just not quite what I had envisioned for myself. I think it will still turn out pretty cool anyway.

I really like this sweater! I think I knit the armholes too big, though, so I may need to go back and fix that by re-knitting the sleeves. The fabric isn’t that great either, but I’m hoping a nice block will help it out. Otherwise, this is a great sweater. The pattern-my failings aside-is super well-written and clear!

The fabric is AMAZING after a wash. I’m going to have to go back and fix the armholes though.

Nevermind! The sweater is great! :) I’m wearing it as I type for the second time in a week. :D
