This is the original prototype for a design that has just been published {Dec 2011} by Interweave Press in the book, Simply Crochet (click on Neck Lattice above). It was originally intended for my indie line of crochet patterns.

This one uses fingering weight (alpaca blend sock) yarn. The one shown in the book uses the same amount of yarn and same Tunisian hook size, but with lace weight alpaca yarn. I like both and I enjoyed seeing the differences between the two yarn weights. I love how versatile this stitch pattern is.

Actually had to buy a digital scale to complete this project! I blogged about that here and here. It has turned into a kind of game or challenge to see how close I came by using a scale.

I’m really enjoying the idea of it: start at one top corner and increase at only one edge. After using up half the yarn, decrease over the same number of rows. I also enjoy the look and feel of the stitch in this beautiful yarn. I bought more of the yarn to make a bigger one.

Also worked out a lovely edging. Pattern is being tech edited. I think it would be a really fun Crochet-Along or online class. (All of my patterns will be available soon. I’m getting impatient to open the vault!)
