Tension: 10cm x 10cm square = 28 sts x 36 rows in stocking stitch, size 4mm needles or appropriate size to achieve the correct tension, yarn needle for sewing up, Beaker Button Bountiful 4ply 100g, 400m approx.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
This pattern is pretty flexible. The sample is worked in lace weight yarn and is light and floaty. For a heavier stole you could use a 4ply yarn quite easily. The length is easily adjusted by repeating the central section as required.

Tension 8 sts X 10 rows over 10 X 10cm square using size 10mm needles, 1 skein each in 5 colours of Yaya (for a single colour you need 250m approx of super chunky yarn), yarn needle for sewing in ends, 16 X Dorset buttons 3.5cm across made with contrasting thread.

This is a simple garter stitch heart, great for using up old bits of yarn. I’ve given a tension but it’s really not that important. You could use any yarn with this pattern and make bigger or smaller hearts.

This is the crochet version of my Duck Billed slippers. It’s a fairly easy pattern that I think would suit a newbie crocheter.
Knitting: Beanie, Toque
Tension: 10cm x 10cm square = 7 sts x 10 rows in stocking stitch, size 10mm needles or appropriate size to achieve the correct tension, cable needle, yarn needle for sewing up, Super Bulky yarn 200g, 116m approx. Pom Pom maker or card for making Pom Poms.

This is a pattern for a pair of simple legwarmers. It is knitted in the round and has a rib top and bottom. It’s designed to fit most legs, but if you wanted a much smaller or much larger size would be easy to adapt, either by changing needle size or changing cast on stitches in groups of 3.
