Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
Originally designed for two custom-dyed colors in a now discontinued DK weight yarn, we’ve re-imagined the Iniko Shawl in fingering weight using Fino from Manos del Uruguay. The variegated color (called Cuarenta y Cinco) shown in the example was dyed for the shop’s 45th anniversary by the artisans at Manos. The combination of the colors and sti...

This beautiful wrap was designed for our “Stitching with Kris” event at the historical Squibb Houses here in Cambria.
Knitting: Fingerless Gloves
We loved the term ‘pulse warmer’, brought to us by a visitor from the UK, so in 2018 we designed our own. We had so much fun doing that, we decided to do it again for 2019, and now for 2020!

Knitting: Cowl
This beautiful two color cowl reflects the view we have every day on California’s Central Coast. The pattern uses two contrasting colors of DK weight yarn and is worked in the round on 24” circular needles. We chose Cardiff Cashmere Classic because it’s soft, uses very high quality cashmere, comes in a wide range of colors, and is a delight to ...

INTRODUCTION
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
This shawl was designed by Kris and Oz with the Fino Custom Color “Cuarenta” (which means 40 in Spanish) dyed by Manos del Uruguay specifically for our shop The Ball & Skein & More to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the store. This shawl is an interplay of a variegated color worked in a simple stockinette stitch combined with 5 semi-s...
Crochet: Scarf
This colorful rainbow scarf features the signature Ball & Skein Cobblestone pattern worked with a double crochet post stitch. It is easy to memorize and fun to work on as the color change adds a bit of excitement to your project. The tassels are made in all of the colors and add flair to the ends of the scarf. The scarf can be worked in any...

Knitting: Beanie, Toque
This fun slouchy hat pattern reminded us of the jellyfish that sometimes wash up on the beach. It is a great hat to make as it uses only 1 set of needles, and is worked flat and then seamed. No need for two or three sets of needles, or any experience with working in the round. It’s a great pattern for your first hat!
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
This crescent shaped shawl is worked from the bottom up, and features the signature Ball & Skein Cobblestone pattern for the border. The construction includes a simple short row technique using decreases with no need to wrap and turn. We’re now showing it in two versions. We like them both, but we’ve fallen for the feel of the lighter gauge...

Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
Using 6 skeins of a worsted weight yarn, we used Berroco Ultra Wool, it’s knit lengthwise, so you’re using a circular needle. We’d suggest 32” or longer. Simple to knit for those at almost all skill levels.
Knitting: Sleeveless Top
Worked from side to side in one piece, this simple to make piece is an ideal coverup or tunic over a tank. The Phoenix Print yields beautiful lengthwise striping that most of us enjoy!
Knitting: Beanie, Toque
Designed originally for a local musician, the Laughing Minstral hat has a wonderful lace pattern on the crown. In addition, it’s truly a “one size fits all” as it has a drawstring that allows the wearer to adjust to their head size. This construction also lets you use yarns that have no memory or stretch, like cotton!
Knitting: Pullover
The East Village Poncho - knitted all in one piece with either 3 skeins of Manos Milo, 2 skeins of Berroco Remix Light, or 10 skeins of Rowan Revive.
Knitting: Electronics Cozy
This is knit in the round. We chose Furisode for its fun colors and its lower possibility of static electric issues. It’s also soft and chunky enough for a bit more protection. We decided against buttons or closures and went with a flap you simply tuck in. As a fun aside, we wrote the pattern on the iPad on the plane on our way to TNNA in Colum...
