I’ve always loved the softness and cosiness of garter stitch baby blankets. Another effect I love is patchwork, but seams can be a little irritating on soft baby skin, so I decided to design a seamless ‘patchwork-like’ blanket using garter stitch for softness and a little lace to add definition and interest to the pattern.

Suantrai is the gaelic for lullaby and seemed appropriate for this soft and cosy baby blanket. Knitted in aran / worsted weight yarn it makes a perfect and practical baby gift.

Sonas is a simple textured cowl with a button detail. It is knit flat and then seamed when finished.

A couple of years ago I took part in a Christmas gift exchange with a group of Irish knitters and one of the requirements was to send something handmade to our giftee. I had a couple of skeins of DK in my stash and decided to knit a simple, cosy cowl using the Feather and Fan stitch pattern, and so, the Clara Cowl was born.
