Knitting: Beanie, Toque
This is a very good beginners hat and a great weekend knit. When I want to know ‘how a yarn will work up’ I knit this toque as my swatch. The Kootenay Toque is knit in the round from the top down ending with a K2, P2 rib see the variations section in the pattern for other bottom band ideas.
Knitting: Earflap Hat
This earflap hat is knit in the round from the top down. The flaps are knit from stitches left on the needles when casting off for the band. The earflaps end in an I-cord knit for 28/30cm. The ends can be left plain or add bells, beads or trinkets. Materials: 100 grams of a soft warm fibre.
