Knitting: Cowl
An incredibly simple and fun way to use up leftovers, advent minis or precious bits of hand-spun and transform them into a unique, cosy cowl which will be packed full of special memories and yarns. Detail is added with yarnover rows at the colour change and an optional advent calendar eyelet detail.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
A simple crescent-shaped shawl – with soothing sections of garter stitch and some colour play to lift the soul. Perfect for mindless knitting when you need to retreat from the pressures of the world.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
A decadent crescent-shaped shawl – quick to knit with therapeutic stretches of squishy garter stitch, dropped stitches and paired with a fluffy lace motive for the border. Perfect for plundering the stash.
Knitting: Ankle Sock
I was delighted to be approached by Catrin (CLoisH) to design a pair of socks to support her work with the breast cancer charity Treasure Chest. I wanted a simple design that would celebrate boobs in all shapes and sizes and remind everyone to regularly check yourself. So if you know what you are looking for you can see a row of boobies round y...
Knitting: Fingerless Gloves
Cosy colour work mitts to work with special high contrast yarns – perfect for keeping your hands warm whilst leaving your fingers free! They whip up very quickly and make for a great gift.
Knitting: Cowl
This is an exclusive pattern created for the WoolLay Retreats organised by Lay Family Yarns!
Knitting: Pullover
This is a lightweight and airy garment made for lots of drape and movement. It is knit at a very loose gauge making it perfect for transitional seasons and meaning it knits up faster than other sock-weight sweaters. It’s worked bottom-up in the round with NO SEAMS! It also uses approx. 3/4 skeins of 100g sock weight wool making it more affordab...
Knitting: Pullover
This was born of the frustration of seeing a jumper I really really liked (worn by Sally Rooney, author of Normal People in a press photo!) and not being able to find a pattern that matched what I was after. So I decided to try it myself.
Knitting: Purse / Handbag
This is a very simple and pretty little bag. It is knitted side-ways and features a horizontal cable and a moss-stitch base.
Knitting: Hot Water Bottle
Super soft, lovely and chunky and it knits up easy and fast. This is constructed using basket-weave, stocking stitch and a wide rib.
Knitting: Cuffs
These are a versatile addition to a winter wardrobe that breathe a little extra life in lighter tops and dresses when the weather gets cooler. And they look very cool.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
Oversized, sloppy and super chunky, this is a joy for your shoulders. It’s an acceptable blanket to wear in public. My sister even manages to make it look pretty sophisticated. If you have winters like ours then this is a must.
Knitting: Collar
This pattern is a bit of a cheat! It’s not really a scarf – more of a neck warmer – but this button collar is quick and easy to knit up and looks very classy. This is a very simple pattern that fits snugly around the neck and crosses over to fasten with some pretty vintage-style buttons.
Knitting: Pillow / Cushion
This is sadly a discontinued yarn that only seems to be around in single skeins any more.
Knitting: Fingerless Gloves
Super simple and very classy. Perfect for typing (or knitting!) in the cold.
