They are knit on a smaller needle than would normally be used for the given yarn weight, which should yield a nice tight weave.

Not the fanciest mittens (although a pattern could easily be added on the back of the hand), but designed for maximum comfort. Friends who have been given these gloves often request another pair when they wear out!
