Swiss graphic designer Walter Haettenschweiler drew inspiration from architecture when designing for the Glashof restaurant in Zug. If you reduce the building’s pyramid-shaped skylights to their structure, you are left with squares and triangles. These two geometric shapes run through the restaurant’s graphics.

There is a wide pedestrian path along the ridge of Uetliberg. The way divides two contrasts: on one side of the mountain is the busy city life and on the other is the country life. 

Over the past few years, Wiedikon has increasingly become a hipster district in Zurich: sidecut, full beard, flannel shirt, horn-rimmed glasses, skinny jeans, canvas bag - and knitted beanie.

One of my first tasks as an architect in Zurich was a façade study in Seefeld. When I looked at the houses in the Zurich neighbourhood, I noticed the wrought-iron balconies. Artfully crafted iron that is both decorative and functional.

Käferberg is one of the mountains that surrounds Zurich. In winter, it is a popular place for excursions. Next to the wooded area, there is a generous, hilly meadow. After a nice day, many different tracks can be seen in the snow: from sledges, pedestrians, paragliders, snow kiters and animals. The tracks form lines that cross each other.

Marin is the oblique onshore wind in southern France. The diagonal wind direction is not only good for kitesurfing, but also for a flattering shirt.

Equiliber means “balance” in Rhaeto-Romanic. Balance is important on many levels. Equiliber not only stands for the balance of knit and purl stitches. It also stands for tension and ease in life.

At low tide - or “Ebbe” in German, when the water recedes from the beach, a smooth surface of the water is created. Often the sea calms down at low tide.

Inspired by the Mexican artist Frida Kahlo, this shawl offers the opportunity to play with knitting directions, patterns, and colours.

Misty Cliffs is a place near Cape Town (South Africa) where there are cliffs that can disappear under the water depending on the tide. Not only is it a great place for kitesurfing, but I find it has something magical.

Pizol is the mountain where I learned to ski as a child, and today I hike there. It’s 2844 m high, in Sarganserland in the canton of St. Gallen (Switzerland). To the north, you have a wonderful view of two valleys: the Rhine valley and the Seeztal.

Lahinch is a suburb of the famous Cliffs of Moher in Ireland. It is a quiet, idyllic place by the sea. If you drive up the gently rising hill from Lahinch, you reach the Cliffs of Moher.
