Crochet: Afghan block
Afghan squares in a checkerboard pattern that give the illusion of bulging out towards the observer. Squares are worked separately, then sewn together.
Crochet: Baby Blanket
A baby blanket with a checkerboard pattern, making a mild optical illusion of a bulge on the flat blanket.
Crochet: Doily
This square Celtic knot pattern can be worked in any gauge. The finished piece is a square with a side-length of about 110 sc. The strands consist of 4 rows of sc, shaped with increases and decreases (2 sc in same stitch to increase, slst2tog to decrease). The strands are then woven together and running-stitched in place.
Crochet: Scarf
Written pattern for a scarf in the form of a Celtic-style knot. The scarf holds its shape while it’s worn, so you can see the pattern if you lay it flat on your chest. It is more decorative than warm.
Crochet: Doily
This pattern can be worked in any gauge. The finished dimensions are (very roughly) 25 by 50 sc. So if you make a swatch of 10 sc, and its width is 8 cm, expect the piece to measure about 20 cm by 40 cm.
Crochet: Doily
The knot is made up of several strands sewn together. Each knot strand is shaped using increases and decreases to determine the curvature. The outlines are added with slip stitches. The pattern is suitable for a motivated beginner, and includes a detailed phototutorial.
Crochet: Shawl / Wrap
These instructions will show you how to make a shawl in the triweave pattern shown in the pictures to the left. A detailed phototutorial is included. The pattern has clickable table of contents and list of figures to help you find exactly what you’re looking for. There are also extra notes on adapting the technique to other shapes.
Crochet: Throw
Three types of blocks are sewn together to form a repeating lattice pattern. The pattern is given in three ways: a detailed phototutorial, printable written instructions, and charts.
Crochet: Throw
Blanket is worked in one piece using intarsia, so there is no wrong side and there are very few ends to weave in. The pattern is made up of repeating units, so you can use any gauge and make it any size, using any number of colours.
Crochet: Afghan block
Pattern for afghan blocks. A solid background is offset by thin lines in a contrasting colour. Two types of squares join together to make fan motifs.
Crochet: Pin Cushion
A pin cushion made out of five colours. Oversized, for blocking pins (or, I guess, a really impressive collection of straight pins) with an arm strap. Cushion is worked in spiral rounds, strap is worked in rows.
Crochet: Rug
Plaid rug with a high, dense pile. The pattern is simple with LOTS of pictures (and it’s free!). Works for any size rug.
Crochet: Rug
This rug is worked in surface crochet into a non-slip rug mat. It is worked in two passes, one laying over the other, to fill the entire mat. The pattern (excepting the border) involves long straight lines, which makes the work go quickly. The finished rug has a short, dense pile.
