Hazel Tindall
Patterns available as Ravelry Downloads
Knitting: Bonnet
Designed for a workshop so that the colourwork part was done during the class and the easier parts (frill and neckband) could be done afterwards.
Knitting: Fingerless Gloves
Handwarmers are knitted in the round, but the cuffs could be knitted flat then seamed together. The thumb opening is marked as you knit, and finished afterwards (an afterthought thumb).
Knitting: Applique / Embellishment
Hexagonal colour piece which can be used as a brooch, hair decoration, or join several together to make a bigger piece, for example a shoulder wrap. The hexagon is worked from the wide edge into the centre. Short double pointed needles are best - stitches spread equally over three needles with a fourth working needle.
Knitting: Beanie, Toque, Fingerless Gloves
The handwarmers were first published in Shetland Wool Week Annual 2015 in three colour combinations. A hat and an additional colour combination have now been added.
Knitting: Cardigan
Cardigan with Fair Isle yoke. Waist is shaped with cabling which also gives a textured area.
Knitting: Cardigan
This pattern supplements “The Fine Art of Fair Isle with Shetland’s Hazel Tindall”, which is available as a download here.
Knitting: Pillow / Cushion
Square cushion cover, in 2 sizes and 2 colour ways, designed for a one‐day workshop in Dornoch.
Knitting: Sleeveless Top
Sleeveless striped top with Fair Isle yoke in two sizes and four colour suggestions.
Knitting: Earflap Hat
Kyukker is the Shetland dialect word meaning to cheer up – hopefully youwill agree that the colours in this hat will cheer anyone up. The ear pieces are optional. The short section of ribbing helps give a snug fit.
Knitting: Cardigan
Unisex Fair Isle zipped cardigan, in three sizes, with two front pockets and shaped hood. Knitted in undyed Shetland Supreme Jumper weight yarn.
Knitting: Headband
This headband was designed to use up small amounts of Shetland yarn – 1 background colour and 3 contrast colours.
