Knitting: Scarf
I got 3 balls of this yarn, Patons Reef, given to me and I didn’t like it when I tried to knit with it. I decided to just use it to knit my Gradient 1:16 scarf. Half way through knitting the scarf I wondered if I could change it and shape it the opposite way back down to 5 sts. After some knitting and undoing and jiggling ideas, I finally figur...
Knitting: Shrug / Bolero
Here is my first project of 2015 finished! A simple top down shrug, Similar to Sesame; it’s just a back and sleeves with a collar/welt picked up and knit in the round. The sleeves are worked in a leaf lace pattern which is simple to memorise. I had enough yarn for long sleeves, but you could work short sleeves if you like. I used just under 4 b...
Knitting: Scarf
Whirligig is a really simple garter stitch crescent/spiral shaped scarf. The crescent/spiral shape is formed by simple yarn forward increases ( or yarn over, yarn round needle ) knit 2 together and casting off decreases. Stripes add a bit of interest and accentuate the shape ( I used 3 colours ) or you could knit in one colour or go crazy with ...
Knitting: Doll
Meet Honey Belle. I couldn’t resist having a go at knitting another doll. I’d made Ethne Rose as a teenage doll, Emele Joi as a child doll and I wanted to make a baby/toddler doll. She’s the same construction as Ethne and Emele, but shorter and chunkier. Her head is slightly larger and she has a chubby tummy shape. I gave her straight, fine hai...

I’m such a knitaholic I’m always working on several things at once. So today, whilst watching this afternoon’s action from the Commonwealth Games, I finished these. A simple sweater/dress with a rolled lace collar and lace hem and cuffs and a top made from the same pattern as the sweater, but with elbow length sleeves and no collar and just a l...
Knitting: Scarf
Gradient 1:16 is a simple garter stitch scarf ideal for using up stash yarn. Any needle size, any yarn from light and wispy to warm and chunky. A simple yarn forward worked on RS rows over 16 rows, followed by casting/binding off 7 sts creates a sawtooth effect that grows wider by 1 stitch every 16 rows. A mindless knit for the experienced knit...
Knitting: Cardigan
Pearlie is a really easy top down raglan. A few rows of ribbing, an easy lifted increase and a pretty seed stitch texture pattern ( or you could just knit in plain stocking/ette if you prefer ) and the button and buttonhole borders are knitted in one with the fronts. It’s a quick knit in the gorgeous Sirdar Softspun chunky. I knitted mine in th...
Knitting: Doll
Finally, Ethne Rose has a little sister. She has taken a while to get her proportions right and I am finally happy with her. She is constructed in the same way as Ethne Rose, but without the waist and bust shaping. I have given her amber eyes and russet hair. I used quite large eyes for the ‘big eyed’ look, as I did for Ethne Rose.
Knitting: Pullover
This little sweater I rustled up with just under 4 balls of Sirdar Softspun chunky in the 10-12yrs size. It’s a simple design with the back and front being alike. Ribbing on the chest and back creates a bit of interest and shape. The little sleeves are slightly puffed and gathered into the top and the ribbing overlaps on the shoulders for ease ...

Valentine’s Day comes around again and Ethne Rose now has a pretty outfit for the special day.
Knitting: Doll Clothes - Other
Ethne Rose now has some pretty lingerie :D All the pieces are a very simple design and knitted in the same way using a very simple lace stitch pattern. I used 3mm satin ribbon for the decoration and shoulder straps. Picture 2 shows the cami top and knickers. Picture 3 is the chemise. Picture 4 is the ‘teddy’ and picture 5 shows the stockings. I...
Knitting: Doll
Ethne Rose is my first attempt at a knitted doll. I started knitting her, firstly top down in the round- but that didn’t work :( Then from the feet up, in the round also- that didn’t work either :( Then I tried knitting her flat. First her legs were like thin sausages :( Then they were to fat, and shapeless :( I put her aside for quite a while ...
Knitting: Cowl
Since my old man retired he’s become quite a dab hand in the kitchen and around the house. He’s become quite the househusband. He’s recently decided to try his hand at baking bread and cakes and I often come home from work to find he’s rustled up a sweet treat for dessert. So, I knitted this cowl for him as I have a little more spare time now w...
Knitting: Cardigan
My husband is ‘getting on’ a bit and often complains that his neck is cold. So I decided to knit him a new cardi with a shawl collar. It’s only ‘one size’ as I’ve only knitted it just for him, but it’s 40”. I wanted a quick knit, but not entirely plain, so I used a very easy diamond pattern that is knit and purl on the right side and just purl ...
Knitting: Cardigan
I picked up this yarn in a closing down sale. I got 10 balls of the blue and 5 of the purple. I knitted the short sleeved cardigan using the purple with a simple lace pattern down the back. Not sure what to do with the blue, I decided to knit a longer, long sleeved version and added the lace down the sleeves and fronts too. You can vary the sle...
Knitting: Cape
In December my niece asked me if I would knit two christening capes for my twin great nieces. I said ‘ Of course ‘. I asked her for measurements and duly designed a scallop edged cape using an old favourite stitch pattern. I gave her the capes when they were finished in January. The christening came around today ( 14th April ). However, since J...
Knitting: Shrug / Bolero
March 2013… I have knitted this little shrug in just 2 days (about 11 hours all told) while I have been stuck in bed ill. It may take a little longer depending on the size you are knitting. I had 3 odd balls of this yarn left over and I needed something to occupy my time. The pattern is written for stocking/ette stitch, but I added a simple see...
