Knitting: Cardigan
Form follows function, but Aran stitches offer the best of both worlds. This combination of traditional patterns reflects the spirit of the rich and diverse flora growing side by side on the remarkable limestone pavements of Inisheer, the most easterly of the Aran islands. — Jean Moss
Knitting: Pillow / Cushion
Pattern was originally done in Rowan Donegal Lambswool Tweed, Rowan Fine Cotton Chenille and Rowan 4-ply Botany, all used with 2 ends. I have now substituted a similar colourway in Rowan Belle Organic DK, which is 50% cotton/50% wool and will wear well.
Knitting: Scarf
Good pattern for diving into your stash. It calls for small amounts of 11 different colours for random patterning (woollen scarf and shawl) and 7 colours for regular patterning (cotton shawl version).
Knitting: Cardigan
Loose-fitting cropped cardigan with striped garter edges. With its bird’s-eye-flecked yoke and sleeves striped collar, cuffs, and hem, Jean Moss’s cropped cardigan is brimming with personality. Knit in Fleuris (Louisa Harding/KFI), it closes with two buttons and is accented with extra-long sleeves. (Vogue Knitting)

Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
Headwrap, cowl or shawl - this versatile and clever pattern is a true Mobius strip with no seam. It went quickly and was fun to make. The instructions were clear and it worked out well. The book features only Araucania yarns, but this would work well in Malabrigo Worsted or a worsted weight alpaca yarn for a cool weather wear.
Knitting: Coat / Jacket
Lots of stitch definition and cables in this classy jacket sporting oversize buttons.
Knitting: Cardigan
Evoking the misty, moist mornings of the Scottish Hebrides, this V-necked cardigan is knitted in soft glacier blue brushed yarn. The zigzag motif, both in the ribs and the larger pattern at the yoke, celebrates the landscape of the crags and crofts of the Western Isles.

Pattern available both as an individual leaflet and part of the 10-pattern collection “Inca Mist” book.
Knitting: Dress
This piece was inspired by the fabulous designs of artist and couturier Mariano Fortuny, who combined color and texture with ingenious cut, taking his inspiration from the velvets and brocades of the Italian fifteenth and sixteenth centuries. Isadora Duncan was among the many famous clients attracted to his Venice studio. His garments emphasize...

These frothy concoctions in luxurious Kid Silk Haze are a beautiful gift for a bride, either in blue as in the old rhyme (something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue), cream or white. They’ll also leave a non-knitting recipient completely in awe of your skills. Rest assured though, this is a quick and easy lace rib which kn...

There’s always an occasion to wear a cosy aran hat - bringing in the logs, gardening, painting the porch, or pounding the pavements keeping fit. The alternative version is for dreadlocks or pony tail - why not knit both?

Knitting: Scarf
One of the easiest of knits in garter stitch with no finishing at all. The pattern is given for 2 versions: the natural undyed Masham yarn will appeal to those who appreciate the rugged outdoors, whereas the gossamer Kid Silk Haze version transforms the same pattern into a diaphanous floating scarf that’s perfect for a breezy summer’s evening.
Knitting: Pet Clothing
Although the pattern is written for the intarsia plaid pattern, this design would work just as well plain or striped, as long as the gauge is correct.

Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
This graceful and delicate shawl is perfect for a very special person on your shawl-knitting list. The light mohair/silk yarn makes a warm, enveloping shawl that is light and airy at the same time. This pattern uses swirl knitting and is trimmed with beads (instructions included): 1 packet Debbie Abrahams Size 6 Turquoise beads (#566).
Knitting: Booties, Mittens, Beanie, Toque
I’ve had plenty of practice knitting for newborns, so I know it’s the extremities that are important in keeping out the cold. So projects which cover head, hands and feet are the ones that make excellent gifts. For a boy, hat, mitts and bootees can be trimmed with turquoise or navy, with the flower omitted on the hat and slippers.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap

The toran is a Hindu or Buddhist door hanging both to welcome guests to your home and celebrate events like weddings, births and traditional festivals. Very colourful and flamboyantly adorned with flowers, leaves and mirrors, the toran symbolically blesses everyone walking underneath with an abundance of love, prosperity, health and happiness.
Knitting: Coffee / Tea Pot
These quirky tea cosies are sure to brighten up teatime anywhere. Last May we took our Lakes & York knitters’ tour to the Wensleydale Longwool Sheepshop and I noticed they had their own cosies decorated with fleece.
