Knitting: Ankle Sock
This is a teaching pattern, written for sock novices. It explains in detail how to make the best socks for you, and gives you a template you can use to create your own personal sock pattern, or to improve any top-down sock pattern you want to work with.
Knitting: Animal Toy
I designed this owl baby with beginners in mind. I kept mine simple, but you could embellish yours with a beak, wings, feet, feathers, whatever works. I think eye placement makes a big difference in the owl’s expression, so play with that to get the result you want.
Knitting: Fingerless Gloves
I devised these fingerless mitts after a lovely but slightly chilly weekend in Norwich, Vermont. The cuff is a variation on a slip-stitch welt pattern from Britt-Marie Christoffersson’s Pop Knitting. I knit mine in handspun Corriedale yarn, but they work well in a millspun worsted yarn (Cascade 220 is a good basic example) as well.
Knitting: Hats - Other
I wanted to make some simple, bulky (quick to knit up!) hats for my local Occupy movement. These are easy to make, but with a ton of options so you don’t get bored while making a bunch. The hats turn out warm, comfortable, and they even look nice!
Knitting: Animal Toy
A wee stuffed beetle, conceived for a springtime yarn-bombing project.
Knitting: Gloves
These racing-style half gloves are modeled on the gloves that Gossip Girl’s Little Jenny Humphrey wore to cotillion. They are currently available as a prototype (and thus only in the one size I’ve knit them in), but I’ll expand the pattern as I get more information. Free PDF pattern coming (hopefully) soon.
