Knitting: Mittens
These mittens are knitted in the round using the Fair Isle technique - a traditional method of knitting from Fair Isle, a tiny island that is part of the Shetland Islands in Scotland. In Fair Isle knitting you use two colours for each round to form the pattern. This produces a thick, warm fabric.

Marvellous Moose Mittens are knit in the round using two colour stranded knitting. The shaped thumb gore makes for a well fitting and comfortable mitten while the two yarns give a nice warm fabric.

Sheepish Mittens were inspired by the happy sheep on my cousin’s farm - Topsy Farms - on Amherst Island in Ontario, Canada.The yarn I used comes from their sheep and is processed in a small mill on Prince Edward Island.
