Knitting: Cardigan
This is comfortable, longer than some but not overly long and easy to make. The sleeves have no cuff. The collar is done on round needles for a smooth finish by picking up stitches. It is in Red Heart Super Saver Cornmeal, it really perks up a dreary day around the house and is fine for running to get kids or other errands.
Crochet: Afghan block
This tasseled/fringed “granny square” throw is cozy and more sophisticated than many scrap grannies. The melange of color in this proportion is somewhat dressy. An introductory to the pattern is found here:Odds & Ends Throw

Use 8 needles if the weave is too loose with your wool brand, use a round needle for the cowl neck if you know how.

This takes about 7-8 skeins of Red Heart regular and about 3 skeins of 5 oz super saver yarn. It is gorgeous in Deep Sage. You could use size 8 needles for the ribbing and 10 1/2 for the body or the 9 and 11 here. You could add a collar of lace or a hood if you have yarn left, you could make the hood, which could take about 2 small skeins.
