Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
My inspiration for this shawl is all the shawls I’ve seen on old westerns like Gunsmoke--saloon girls have fancy shawls for “work”; farm girls have warm, functional ones for going out to collect eggs or feed the chickens.
Knitting: Beanie, Toque
Here’s a fun, quick knit I made for my Christmas Caroling hat. Knit in the round, add a pom pom or bells for extra fun!
Knitting: Fingerless Gloves
I was recently asked for a pair of long fingerless gloves! I’ve always wanted to design a pair and thought I would try making some with subtle shaping in some of my hand-spun yarn. I used a hand-spun Alpaca yarn that is about 21 WPI -- any fingering weight or sock-weight will work--the cable pattern makes this a stretchy fabric.
Knitting: Pixie Hat
The Earth Day Hat was a challenge by the Sunshine Coast (BC) Fibreshed to create something special for Earth Day 2016 (the original was raffled off at an Earth Day event). It had to be created from local fibre in natural colors to be “certified fibreshed” - as a bonus it needed a local and unique design. Also, I only had 4 days before the event...
Knitting: Poncho
This poncho pattern sized to be 27” x 15” rectangles but is easily adjusted smaller or larger. I would simply increase number of stitches in the stockinette portion of the pattern - if you need further help with that I can help you--just message me! I wanted an airy fabric but the addition of cables adds some strength and warmth around the top ...
Knitting: Market bag (slouchy)
I wanted a sturdy market bag that was machine-washable, durable and a little nicer than the simple mesh bags I’ve seen. I’ve used the “lace” pattern in a scarf and thought that it would suit a bag very well because it gives lots of support but is expandable.
Knitting: Shrug / Bolero
This cute shrug is started by knitting from wrist to wrist on circular needles. I have used a mohair/acrylic blend for the 1st sample shown but any soft yarn would work as long as it has some elasticity. The red one is made with Beregere Plume - this may be too much “fluff” for some but it makes a cute and dressy-looking jacket!
Knitting: Fingerless Gloves
Very easy pattern that suits any aran weight yarn -- suitable for s/m sizes.
Knitting: Scarf, Shawl / Wrap
If you would like to try an easy lace pattern that looks lovely with any variegated yarn you might like this--it looks great and has only 3 pattern rows that repeat. I used 4 skeins of Noro Silk Garden for my scarf but you can use any yarn you have in an aran weight or lighter with the suggested needle size for the yarn--keep in mind that your ...
Knitting: Vest
I really like no-seam construction and love adding shaping to garments using short-rows so teamed these techniques up in a vest that is knitted starting on the left front, uses short-row shaping to define the waist in the front on both sides and the middle of the back. It also has an asymmetrical front for added interest. It is knit in garter s...
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
I really enjoy multi-use garments and so I designed this--you can wear it any number of ways and make in any worsted weight yarn. I used a gorgeous silk/wool in a bold purple that makes the one I made for this sample warm but also “dressy.”
Knitting: Food Cozy
This is knitted from the bottom-up… the pattern is composed of knit and purl stitches--great for beginner knitters who want to achieve a more complex look. It comes with a chart and instructions.
