The Montreal Set was inspired by my best friend. She’s living in Canada and needs really warm accessories for the cold, cold winters there.
When I first got my hands on the gorgeous shawl-striping yarn by Caterpillargreen Yarns, I knit it into the top-down triangular shawl that it is meant to be. But after that, my mind began to wonder – what would happen if I broke the rules and tried other shawl scapes for the yarn? Well, the yarn works just as wonderful as for triangular shawls!
Inspiration can come in a quite simple and obvious way. While browsing a book with old German stitch patterns I came across a beautiful pattern called “Donner and Blitz” (German for Thunder and Lightning) and it just begged me to turn it into a Faroese Shawl. When he reached the moon has been inspired by one of my favourite songs, “When I reached the moon” by Morten Harket.
