At the end of every Passover holiday, I imagine never wanting to eat a piece of matzah again. And yet, when the holiday arrives again and the table is set, the smells of the Seder fill the air and I look forward to that crumbly first bite. While I wait, I’ll enjoy knowing my matzah is covered by its own cozy cover.

This is an intermediate sweater inspired by a knit by Ann Rothman, a Holocaust survivor, for her friend and fellow survivor, Helena Weinrauch.

Based upon The Little Red Dress, a part of The Knitting Hope project by Tanya Singer and the dress pattern by Melissa Shinsato.

The Little Red Dress is a tribute to the little red toddler dress knit for Judy Fleischer Kolb by her Grandmother Martha, an expert knitter and seamstress, in Shanghai. The dress currently hangs in the Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center in Skokie, IL.
