This shawl is inspired by Dogwood Valley on the Natchez Trace in Mississippi! The pattern is a basic pattern with lace stitches towards the edging. Great for beginner knitters wanting to branch out or experienced knitters looking for a non complicated pattern.

Moonbow shawl is medium sized, crescent shaped. It uses the knit and purl stitches in a way to give some texture. The pattern uses the half pi formula, making the counting easy to keep up with since you only do increases after so many rows instead every other row. This pattern was inspired by the ballet Swan Lake! The feather and fan stitch is used in way to create ripples like in the water and is lightweight even though it is a medium size shawl.

The 80’s definitely had some of the best music out there! Simple, but fun and easy to knit. It has slipped stitches which give it a light and airy feel, especially for those of us who don’t have much of a winter. The size of this shawl is not huge and will drape nicely around the shoulders.

I think we can all agree Violet Crawley, the Dowager of Grantham is one of the best characters on Downton Abbey. I am certainly not a Countess of any kind. Just a former stage performer that has a ‘job’ teaching ballet and can’t wait for the ‘weekend’ to knit!
