Knitting: Beanie, Toque
With its folded brim and stranded colourwork, the Ridgeway hat will be warm around the ears. The hat is worked from the bottom up, in the round, and is finished off with a small star motif at the crown.

The Danebury hat is a slightly slouchy hat worked in aran-weight yarn with a stranded colourwork pattern. With its closely spaced dot pattern, the hat is knitted for warmth. I knitted it in the round in my own handspun yarn, using about 55 g white and about 20 g brown, but any aran-weight yarn giving the same tension would work.
Knitting: Beret, Tam
The design for this beret was inspired by a visit to Tintern Abbey (Wales) with its intricate stonework, at a time when the Abbey was lit up for Remembrance Day.

Knitting: Pullover
The Penwith sweater is worked in the round, in an easily memorised pattern and a colourway that evokes the brilliance of a foam-tipped sea around Cornwall. I used Sirri yarn for this design, a pure wool Faroese yarn.

The fruits of the Spindle tree are a such fabulous colour, and their four-fold symmetry is echoed in the design for the Spindleberry hat. It is a slightly slouchy hat in aran-weight yarn, finished off with a light bobble in the three colours used for the hat.

An autumn day in Wales was the inspiration for this pattern, with colourful leaves dropping to the forest floor.
Knitting: Beanie, Toque
The design for the Hurst hat came about after spending an autumn afternoon on our local meadow, with the hawthorn bushes full of small red berries. The band of colourwork gives a double thickness of warmth around the ears, just what is needed at this time of year.
Knitting: Baby Blanket
Worked in garter stitch on the bias, starting in one corner and ending in the corner diagonally opposite, this two colour blanket can be worked in any gauge - giving the texture that is right for you.
Knitting: Pullover
This Scandinavian-inspired men’s size jumper features all-over colourwork, and is worked in the round from the bottom up, incorporating steeks for the armholes and neck. It is a drop-shoulder design and has a traditional straight shape. Facings are worked for the hem and cuffs; these are turned up and stitched to the inside.
Knitting: Cardigan
Seahorses, waves, and sand dimples (or flying sea birds?) combine for a sea theme on this stranded colourwork cardigan. The two colourwork pattern repeats are worked over different stitch counts and are not intended to line up. This echoes the discontinuity between waves and sand; the wave pattern is dynamic and moves from left to right, wherea...
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
Soft and warm, this shawl is worked in 1-ply (lace-weight) Snaeldan yarn, 100% Faroese wool, at a tension of 24 sts to 10 cm in garter stitch, and knits up surprisingly fast for lace-weight.
Knitting: Pullover
A man’s bottom-up raglan jumper in three shades of Snaeldan undyed greys, separated by a pop of bright blue (yarn available from The Island Wool Company).
Knitting: Beanie, Toque
Gorgeous Snaeldan colours set off the moss stitch rib pattern for a hat that is striking and simple to make.
Knitting: Vest
The vest is worked in the round from the bottom up, incorporating steeks for the front opening and for the armholes. Steeks are reinforced by crochet, and front and armhole edgings are knitted on in rib.
Knitting: Coat / Jacket
This is a moss stitch baby jacket worked in the flat from the bottom up. Wide button bands are worked in striped garter stitch. Yarn requirement: 2-3 balls main colour, 1 ball contrast; Navia cotton, 50g per ball.
