Knitting: Beanie, Toque
This hat is based on a pattern designed for gloves in Sanquhar Scotland. This traditional pattern is one of several created in the 1800’s for Sanquhar gloves. Although it may look complicated, it is a very simple 10 stitch repeat.

The directions for the woman’s and the man’s hat are the same. The difference is the size of the worsted yarn. The woman’s hat was knit with Cascade Super wash which has a smaller gauge than Cascade Pacific and Berocco Vintage. Since the contrasting color for the tile pattern is only 14 rows, any stash can be used .

This hat was designed as a chemo hat although it can be adjusted to a full size hat by either increasing the number of stitches by 10 or by adding to the length by knitting the pattern 3 times instead of 2 1/2.
