Crochet: Throw
This is a simple granny square blanket, great for a beginner looking for a new challenge or for any crocheter looking for a great gift. This is designed as a baby blanket, but instructions are included to make it as big as you’d like. You can also alternate by more than just two colors, the possibilities are endless!
Crochet: Market bag (slouchy)
My husband dubbed this a “bag of irony” since it is a crochet bag made to hold other crochet/knit projects. But it can be so much more than that! Originally published in Issue 4 of Crochet Now magazine, this bag uses strong cotton yarn and the tapestry crochet method to make it sturdy enough to hold almost anything you can put in it.
Crochet: Cowl
Most cowls are just around the neck - but why? Add more to the typical cowl by having involving your shoulder as well. Similar in appearance to a cowl worn by Katniss in the “Hunger Games” movies, this cozy crochet cowl is a fun, easy project that will keep you warm all winter.
Knitting: Pillow / Cushion
Knit a cozy, cabled pillow for your home! Open on one end so you can take the pillow form out for easy cleaning, this pattern uses two cable stitch patterns and is mostly done in the round so there is no seaming required. This pattern provides a new challenge for beginners or a quick and easy project for the more advanced knitter.
Knitting: Scarf
Who wouldn’t think of Charlotte’s Web when using cobweb yarn?! Lacy and light, this scarf is the perfect accessory to any outfit. With cobweb yarn, you can hold any two (or more!) colors together to make it unique to you. Pick your favorite colors, the colors of your favorite sports team, anything you want. Crochet: Scarf
Who says cables are just for knitting! This scarf has the crochet version of cables, interspersed with fans and treble crochet stitches. If you’re tired of just using the basic crochet stitches and are looking for something light, airy, and more like what you’d get with knitting, this is for you! The stitch pattern is repetitive, which makes it...
Knitting: Baby Blanket
Designed and named for my new baby nephew, this blanket is a simple combo of knits and purls that will make a baby cozy both indoors and outdoors. This pattern is easy for any beginner knitter, but does require some concentration due to the pattern repeats. Shown in Simplicity by Hikoo, it has a lovely drape and a soft feel, making it a comfort...
Knitting: Cowl
This is a quick, one skein project, great for a beginner or someone looking for a last minute gift. Knit in one strip and then seamed together, you can do this with one skein of super bulky and include a complementing strand of yarn for contrast. Either way, it’s a fast knit that will keep you warm on cold winter nights.
Knitting: Scarf
This scarf features a lace section with a cable on each side. One cable is a small 6-stitch cable, and the other a 15-stitch cable. This calls for an entire skein of Malabrigo sock, but you can make it shorter or longer depending on what you want.
Crochet: Ball
These make great toys for kids, as they can be thrown around without hurting anyone. They also make good stress balls for adults, who have just as much fun throwing these around as kids do!
