Completely reversible, looks exactly the same on both sides, though the two ends differ: one has 3 points, the other has 2 points plus 2 half-points.

Gauge is not necessary as you first knit the cabled band with enough 8-row cable repeats to fit comfortably slightly stretched around the head. Then you pick up 8 stitches on the side of the band for each cable repeat.
