The idea of socks with reversible cables accompanied me for quite some time, but the Scarefest motivated me to put the pattern forward.

This pattern was motivated by two projects, the sweater for my partner with delicate twisted open cables (the cables, which span across three stitches, 1k, 1p, 1k, and the purl always remain behind the crossed knits, and the sock pattern from SWC in 2023 called Kurt. The twist to this pattern is that all cables are worked in one-stitch intarsia.

These socks are generic socks that have a heel which does not break stripes. So, they are especially appropriate for Christmas socks from precoloured stripy yarn. Gifts in them first, wearing later.
