Knitting: Beanie, Toque
All of our babies are precious and they need a hat when it is cold outside! This colorful and warm hat can easily be knit up in one evening. To make a smaller or bigger size add or subtract 6 stitches.
Knitting: Scarf
Ever find a stitch pattern you just love and keep coming back to? That is the case for me with the yarnover cable stitch. So fun and easy to knit and the range of possibilities for how to use it just go on! In this case, I used it to knit a pattern I call the Golden Fleece.
Knitting: Scarf
This is an easy reversible scarf. It is great for the beginning knitter who feels comfortable with the basics of knitting and wants to try something new. Something that makes their project look unique and makes them feel special!
Knitting: Scarf
This is an elegant textured scarf. The borders are knitted with seed stitch and the main body with crossed v-stitch. When two repeats of the crossed v-stitch are knitted the result is something that looks like a “ tower” where the repeats meet.. So, I named the pattern “spires of Avalon”. I was also reading a science fiction book at the time, s...
Knitting: Afghan block
This is an afghan block that could be used for a blanket, a dishcloth, pillow, or a potholder. If you shorten the repeats of the crossed v stitch and cast on fewer stitches, it could be used as a panel for a cardigan.
Knitting: Afghan block
Flower Garden is an intarsia block. It can be used as a block for an afghan, as a pot holder, as a piece of art on your wall or as part of a table runner. If you expand the borders, you could even use it as a place mat. You could also knit blocks with different colors of flowers.
Knitting: Baby Blanket
This is a very colorful blanket. It is worked flat. The main stitch pattern is a 6 row repeat over a multiple of 10 stitches. It gives the fabric the effect of ripples and works well with the yarn cakes that move from one color to another. Another advantage to using this yarn cake is that you don’t have to decide which color to use next. It is ...
Knitting: Beret, Tam
Are you thinking about knitting something quick, simple, and cute for Valentine’s Day? How about a red and white hat?
Knitting: Cowl
During our time of “stay home, stay safe” I have been exploring smocking stitches. At first I was afraid of them. They looked so cool, but could I do it? I found a great video tutorial on YouTube which is included in the pattern instructions. Now I am going to be making all kinds of knitted items with smocking. Another plus - it didn’t curl!
Knitting: Scarf
This pattern knits up as a lovely textured reversible scarf. On one side the diamonds are depicted in purl stitches and on the other side they are depicted in knit stitches. You can’t lose. Your scarf will look great no matter what side is presented to the viewer. You can also make smaller or larger diamonds depending on how many of the middle ...
Knitting: Child Doll (American Girl, Sasha, etc)
This is a top and skirt set for a 8” X 5” doll. The skirt is very easy and takes about 1-2 hours to do (depending on interruptions). The top is a little more difficult, but still easily knitted within 2 hours. It is a great way to use up your stash yarn.
Knitting: Baby Blanket
“In My Mother’s Arms” was created to celebrate the comforting love of mothers as they hold their infants. I selected a soft acrylic yarn that can easily be washed and dried.
Knitting: Baby Blanket
This blanket has great texture by using a simple stitch pattern - fluted triangles. To me, it looks like little stairs and so I named this design “stairs from heaven”. You can make your blanket all in one color or in 4 like I did. My blanket measures 27 inches wide and 26 inches long. You can easily make your blanket longer by adding more repea...
Knitting: Potholder
I needed a Christmas potholder and also wanted to learn intarsia. I thought knitting a potholder with an intarsia heart would be perfect for Christmas. I wanted a double thickness potholder and a potholder that would have a different stitch pattern on the front and back side. This also hides all of the sewn in yarn ends of the intarsia heart.
Knitting: Cowl
I started out with a pattern, but I read the pattern wrong. What a difference “wyib” can make when it should have been “ wyif” It is a completely different stitch pattern. It made the fabric roll instead of flatten, but it is incredibly warm as an infinity scarf, so that is okay with me.
Knitting: Child Doll (American Girl, Sasha, etc)
My grandaughters need clothes for their 2 dolls. The dolls measure 8 inches tall and 5 inches wide. I also had surgery and have been told to “behave”. No going to the mall or driving around town for hot chocolate. So, I need somthing to do while I am home bound.
Knitting: Child Doll (American Girl, Sasha, etc)
My grandaughter needs clothes for her doll. Her doll is not a Barbie, but just a little bigger ( 8 inches tall and 5 inches wide). I could not find any clothes for this doll in the store, so I am making them. This first item is a simple poncho.
Knitting: Scarf
This is a mosaic/slip stitch scarf. I used 2 contrasting colors; deep aqua and gray. Gauge is provided, but as this is a scarf, it’s not that important.
